A Trump Presidency

Updated: Oct 4, 2020

After a couple of tweetstorms on the issue last night and this morning, this was the email I sent employees today about the Election’s results and what it means to our country, industry, and company.

With the election behind us and a Trump presidency on the horizon, I wanted to share a few thoughts with you.
On business. Trump is an entrepreneur and businessman. I am hopeful that these perspectives and his business experience will be reflected in his leadership and policymaking, making it a business-friendly yet pragmatic environment.
On hospitality. Trump is a hotelier (in fact, many of his properties are customers) and that will hopefully mean a net positive for events and the hospitality industry. Having that kind of lens in the highest office is a first, and hopefully, a plus.
On politics. I am hopeful that with his experience negotiating business deals he will bring a fresh approach to the stalemates and division we’ve witnessed in government during recent years.
Regardless of where you stand on the election and the candidates, the reality is that we have a new President-Elect. I try to be as optimistic as possible and I’m hopeful that the tone and rhetoric, which often brings the worst out of candidates during elections, will change going forward. I believe in what our country stands for, in our democracy, and that our best days are ahead.
That being said, I will continue to fight for what I believe in — no matter who is president — as long as I believe we can do better.
From my days protesting the Iraq War to community organizing in NYC against the development of high rise buildings to serving a Senior Member of Congress where I fought for affordable housing for constituents, I have always stood up for what I believe in.
This is the same attitude I bring to running this company, to serving each of you, to pushing our industry forward, and to making Social Tables better than it was yesterday. I know we share these values of continuous improvement and, for that, I am grateful to have you by my side.
